It has always been a high priority for NMSU to offer competitive and valuable benefits at a reasonable cost to our employees and to the university. To this end, during the next several months HR Services will gather employee input regarding our current benefits and review comparative benefit data to see if we can improve our benefit programs.
Our top priority for the initial review includes an analysis of our medical and dental plans. We will explore opportunities that will allow NMSU more autonomy and control over vendor negotiations, plan benefits and expenses. As part of the total analysis, we will review all of our benefit offerings. Possible changes to other benefit programs, such as vision, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, disability insurance, leave, retiree medical plans, and other retiree benefits will also be considered during fiscal year 2011. Any recommended plan changes for fiscal year 2012 and beyond will be reviewed with employees prior to a decision to make changes. (Benefits of a Review Per Mercer)
